Mrs. Neely and Mr. Foster took 25 kids to the Build My Future trades event yesterday. Students were able to get hands-on experience in careers such as carpentry, welding, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and much more. The kids had a great time and learned a lot!
Verona School District Welcomes New Board Members
Verona, MO — During the regularly scheduled Verona R-VII Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the school district officially welcomed two newly elected board members, Mr. Matt Freiburger and Mrs. Paula Baker. Both individuals took the oath of office and began their terms of service following the certification of the April 2025 election results.
Mr. Freiburger and Mrs. Baker bring with them a wealth of community involvement, professional expertise, and a shared commitment to continuing Verona’s strong tradition of academic excellence, student-focused leadership, and community engagement. The district is confident that their unique perspectives and dedication will be valuable assets in shaping the future of our schools.
As we welcome our new members, the Verona School District would also like to extend sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to our outgoing board members, Mrs. Linda Gates and Mr. Kevin Hilton. Both Mrs. Gates and Mr. Hilton have demonstrated remarkable commitment throughout their years of service, consistently advocating for student success, staff support, and the overall growth of our school community.
Superintendent Melody Whitehead shared, “We are incredibly grateful for the time, passion, and leadership that Linda and Kevin have devoted to our district. Their guidance has left a lasting impact, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors. At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Matt and Paula to the Board and look forward to the continued collaboration that keeps Verona moving forward.”

This week, our little learners had a blast exploring the new Easter learning centers!🐰🎨 Tom and Tabby Cat were back to teach us all about *cooperation*—and as a special reward for their awesome behavior, we celebrated with a camping party!⛺
We turned our tables into cozy tents, enjoyed delicious s’mores! 🍫🔥 The kids loved every moment and lots of memories were made!

The Book Fair is back!! Everything is Buy One Get One free! Students may shop during breakfast and lunch every day April 9-17. The Fair will also be open from 4:00-7:30 pm on April 10, to allow families to shop before or after the Fine Arts Program. We hope you will join us!!

Fourth grade had so much fun watching our eggs hatch! They loved the baby chicks, and they were sad to see them leave today!
